JK Rowling Answered My Question!

Bloomsbury, the British publisher of the amazing Harry Potter series, hosted a live webchat with the author herself on their website. A week in advance, anyone could submit questions through the site, and during the chat about a hundred were chosen to be answered. The full transcript is available here, and according to the site, over 120,000 questions were submitted! I myself submitted around 50 questions, both of them involving the details of my favorite character, Snape. Those weren't chosen, but another one, that popped into my head a while ago, was!

Ravleen: How much does the fact that voldemort was conceived under a love potion have to do with his nonability to understand love is it more symbolic
J.K. Rowling: It was a symbolic way of showing that he came from a loveless union - but of course, everything would have changed if Merope had survived and raised him herself and loved him.
J.K. Rowling: The enchantment under which Tom Riddle fathered Voldemort is important because it shows coercion, and there can't be many more prejudicial ways to enter the world than as the result of such a union.

I was so excited! The question has a pretty obvious answer, but I asked it, anyway. Just the fact that such a genius has seen my name makes me pretty happy.

Very good, congratulations, Ravleen! Next time, alert me by e-mail when Jo has a webchat next time, eh?
