Saturday, October 13, 2007 Bhagat Ravidas Day
I am searching for the Jakara camp counselors all around the San Jose Sikh Gurdwara. It is seven in the morning and some kids are already there. As I wait, one of the camp organizers asks me to go to breakfast and wait for instructions until further notice. I enter the warm langar hall with the beautiful aroma of parathas cooking and breakfast, that is, your typical American breakfast, with cereal and bagel. I took Cinnamon Toast Crunch and ate until 8am when the campers started arriving. So, that time, we received our t-shirts and thus attended a naam simran congregation held by the counselors. The counselors were all very friendly and spoke very good English with no accent whatsoever. As the day went by, I already knew what a 'begumpura' was. A begumpura is a city without fear and misery and thus we should live in a city like so. We had pizza for lunch and guess who was there! If you guessed Manjot, you are probably correct! She was there and attended the camp. It had been a long day and I was tired at the end.
